1. Copy
This is considered an alternative to the popular cloud storage services such as Dropbox, OneDrive or Google Drive. Users can easily access Copy via a web portal or download a desktop client for Windows, OSX and more, or use mobile apps being available for Windows Phone, iOS and Android. You can simply download or upload data, as well as sync the photos on your smartphones.
With a basic free account, you will receive 15GB of storage. The storage can be extended via referrals system that both you and the new user will have additional 5GB each and up to a maximum of 25GB extra space.
The interface of Copy is so familiar. If you use the desktop clients, when you want to sync any file to the cloud, you just need to drag it to a folder generated on your PC. Both files and folders are be able to shared with other users of the platform, or you can merely send direct links to anyone you want.
Copy offers the ability to set the levels of control over data, such as freely editting and read-only, too. Some features are also provided for business purposes, such as creating groups with simple but powerful controls, and splitting copy storage into work and home with company IT restrictions only being applied to the work section.
2.Tresorit
Tresorit is also said to be one of the best secure storage services due to its manner to encrypt the files. With a local client installed on your Windows or OSX machine, your data is locally encrypted, then sent, using TLS, to the Tresorit servers where it remain encrypted. You keep the decryption key and, similar to Mega, not even Tresorit itself can access your files, because of its Zero-Knowledge policy. In addtion, if the two-step verification is applied, even if your ID is stolen, your phone is required to be able to access the data.
It somewhat makes a little annoyance, however, when a user signs up for the first time. Even you have 3GB of storage space, you have to try a free trial of the Premium package. Tresorit provides 100GB of storage for the Premuim package. It also offers packages for business custormers who pay $24 per month for 1TB of storage as well as the ability to remotely eliminate data, stop the actions to the documents of others or set restrictions on how much a recipient can edit a file.
3.pCloud
Only setting up a new account of pCloud, you have up to 10GB of free storage right away and could be rapidly upgraded to 20GB via the regular incentives. pCloud also provides users with paid packages being much cheaper than many rivals, such as $3.99 per month for 500GB and $7.99 per month for 1TB. In addition, you can upload anything you want because of its no requirement for file size.
All data is believed to be safe while transferring between pCloud servers and users’ machine thanks to TLS/SSL encryption.
An interesting feature of pCloud is the Upload Link helping you and your friends directly add files onto one pCloud drive to avoid wasting much time to search for the contents of Downloads folder.
One more special feature of pCloud is the Crypto Folder in which the content is encrypted locally on users’ device and only using your key is able to read the data. That it does not, however, require the whole files to be encrypted means both encrypted and non-encrypted files are available at the same time on a drive. The Crypto Folder costs $3.99 per month, or you can try it out for free with 14-day trial before making your decision.
4.Box
Box is sometimes mistaken with Dropbox though it has existed a little bit longer than its competitor since 2005. Box mainly offers business services, but still has personal storage options.
Box provides a basic free package with 10GB of storage, but limits 250MB for each file at the same time. This is absolutely a trouble if users want to store videos while it is still acceptable with most documents and spreadsheets, even high resolution photos. If you want to upgrade to the Personal Pro package, you will have to charge $10.6 per month for 100GB of storage and a file size limit of 5GB. Costing $5 per month for Starter business plan, you will receive 100GB of storage and a slightly around 2GB file size.
The web portal allows you to create new documents in either Microsoft Office, Google Docs, or web-based formats, which you can edit files via a free, downloadable plug-in.
