The iPhone 6S and 6S Plus have finally arrived. The question for now is that whether Apple will unveil the low-cost version of these products.
There have been many rumors about the launch of an iPhone 6C, a 4-inch replacement for the iPhone 5C for months. On the other hand, it can be a smaller version of the iPhone 6S. It is predicted that the new versions will not appear until later in 2016 or 2016 but Apple will probably not abandon the 4-inch version as there is still a great demand in the smartphone market.
Right now, a 2016 launch does look most likely, with the latest rumors coming from KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. He said that the new iPhone 6C or 6S mini would not have a plastic case like the iPhone 5C. It will have the same design and colors as the iPhone 6s, just smaller. In addition, it will have an Apple A9 chip but do not support 3D Touch. We may have to wait long for the new devices since the launch will be around the second quarter of 2016.
Another analyst named Shaw Wu also claims that the new iPhone 6c with a metal case will not arrive until the first half of 2016. The iPhone 6C will use 14/16nm FinFET chips manufactured by TSMC and Samsung, according to the semiconductor industry sources.
However, some came up with the idea that we will not have to wait that long. Reports from China is suggesting that the production of the smaller iPhone is about to start and sale may start by November 2015. It now look unlikely, though.
Recent leaked images appeared on Nowhereelse.fr showed something looks like a 1,715mAh battery that could have been for the iPhone 6C. The site has good reputation for its leaked information of Apple products.
According to a note leaked to Apple Insider, analyst Timothy Arcuri suggested may launch an “iPhone 6S Mini” with a 4-inch screen and similar specs as the iPhone 5S, but the device is expected to come with less impressive features at a less costly price range.
Plastic design
When Apple itself introduced its new Lightning dock for the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, it was accompanied by an image of a brightly colored phone docked into it. The device looks like the iPhone 5C, but it is apparently not. Taking a close look at the Home button, we can see a chrome surround and there is no square icon, giving an impression of the Touch ID sensor. The picture was removed from Apple’s website then.
Talking about the coming of the iPhone 7 ahead, the third-quarter launch in 2016 is said to feature the upgrade to a new A10 chip that offers better performance. However, Apple will probably differentiate between the two sizes of the iPhone 7 when it comes to RAM. The 4.7-inch iPhone 7 will have the same 2 GB seen in current iPhones while the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus will include 3 GB of RAM for performance reasons.
