Microsoft Edge is the latest browser, released in the Windows 10. It has numerous powerful security features. If you worry about collection of user data, you can adjust the Edge browser privacy and settings. Open the Edge browser and press the three dots button in the horizontal line. Then click the Settings button at the bottom of Actions menu.
Edge opens in different way
Open the settings panel and you can see the different options to open the Edge. The easiest way to open is with “Previous Pages”, in which you can start from where you left. If you have to use the computer with others, select “New Tab Page” instead of keeping privacy.
Form Data is easily deleted
You can also simply clear your browsing history by yourself by opening the Settings menu and then choosing the “Choose what to clear” option. Form Data records the situations when you enter your personal information such as name, phone number and address to make an account on the website that asks for those details. If you do not want Edge to remember these things, you may choose to clear them.
All you have to do is to check or uncheck three boxes. Permission access is handled through the settings menus of Windows 10, which provides users with brief description of privacy tips.
Pop-up Windows and Adobe Flash Media Player
Go into the Settings menu, select the “View Advanced Settings” to view all behavioral options in Edge browser. Although Edge blocks pop-up windows by default, some specific websites need this function for operating perfectly. You have to leave blocked pop-ups until you have a requirement for them.
“Use Adobe Flash Player” is switched on in Microsoft Edge by default. It can make some certain websites hard to navigate. You can disable this function if you do not need it. Edge streams HTML5 content without having to switch from Flash format.
Passwords, Form Entries, and Do Not Track
The browser can remember the password, which is convenient. But when you switch to a device without Edge, you have to do another sign-in.
In order to keep higher security and privacy, just disable “Save form entries”. This option also works when you will use Edge on a mobile device.
“Do Not Track” is a voluntary system and does not give a big impact on security and privacy since no one can force a website to accept a Do Not Track request. Thus, enabling this feature will not make much difference.
Page Prediction and SmartScreen Filter
Page Prediction works as the search suggestions. It works with the browser to guess the link that you click next and preloads this linked page. This process may take a moderate amount of data. Therefore, mobile users may turn off this feature, but it might be better for most desktop users with high Internet speed.
The SmartScreen lets you to analyze malicious programs that can block your installation. It is a better option to get ward off suspicious programs.
