Windows 10 Fall Update finally came to public last week with many useful hidden features
Automatic Time Zones
In fact, Windows had the ability to set automatic time for years. However, in the previous version, when you travel to another country it never switches time zones automatically. That’s changing with the latest Windows 10 update. With Windows 10’s latest update, users will no longer need to worry about setting time zones, because this feature is enabled by default. If you haven’t installed the latest Windows 10 update, to activate the “set time zone automatically” option, you will go to Settings > Time & Language.
Now when travelling for vacation or work, you won’t get to your destination and be confused by your old time zone. It will finally work just like your smartphone does.
Find My Device
Find My Phone is considered as the most useful feature for users when their devices are stolen or misplaced. And now, Microsoft made it real for the owners of a laptop or PC to find the location of these devices. Now, there is no need to install the third party applications to trust and track your laptop’s location. Just like the mobile equivalent, you can enable find my device and it will track the last known location of your laptop or PC.
Microsoft made it real for the owners of a laptop or PC to identify the location of these devices
All users need is a Microsoft Account to log in from a device running on Windows 10, so they can find the location of their laptop/PC. It’s linked to your Microsoft Account so you can sign-in on the web from another device if you lose your laptop or it gets stolen. You can find the setting to enable it in Settings > Update & security > Find my device.
Casting Media To Device
Not only does the latest update of Windows 10 supports DLNA and Miracast streaming, but it also added a new feature to the Microsoft Edge browser – “cast media to device”. Sending photos, video, and audio to compatible devices will become easier with this impressive feature , just like you’d do it with Google’s Chromecast feature.
In the Edge browser, you’ll see a “cast media to device” option, and in supported apps you’ll see a little “casting” icon. Click it, select any supported gadgets from the list, and Windows takes care of the rest.
New Skype Applications
Good news continues coming, the noteworthy hidden Windows 10 features in the new update are support for new Skype apps. The new update of Windows 10 will automatically install applications such as Skype Video and Messaging, Phone, which can be found in the app list.
Sync Passwords In Microsoft Edge
Password, favorites, and reading list sync is not helped with Microsoft Edge browser for a long time but thanks to the new update of Windows 10, it can be enabled in Settings.
Cortana will let you reply to texts and more
Cortana is getting more and more useful with the latest Windows 10 update. In detail, you can enable missed call notifications just with a new option in setting thanks to Cortana. That’s useful if you simply miss a call, but it also allows you send text messages back. Cortana will use your phone and its number to send the text, and you can even say “text Joe Bloggs” to initiate a text message without having to miss a call.
Unfortunately, this isn’t available yet in the new Messaging app, so you need to use Cortana at the moment to send text messages.
In addition to working without a Microsoft account, Cortana got some other upgrades. When you install the Cortana app on your smartphone, it will link up with your Windows 10 Cortana then our computer now can notify you if you missed calls. Uber users also can link up accounts and Cortana can offer to call you an Uber when you’re looking at driving directions.
