The search giant – Google now reportedly wants to make its own phone instead of letting other manufacturers do that.
Last week, new rumors reported by The Information hinted that Google is thinking about jumping into the phone market – something it has never happened directly. As Google have the incentives as well as budget big enough to build the whole phone, ambition for its own device is possible.
This rumor came up just a few days after users heard that Google is planning to design its own mobile chips for Android devices, both of them are originated from the same source.
In fact, it is a good time now for Google to standardize components for Android. Releasing its own smartphone would help Google promote and visualize the strengths of standardization, and it might also a motivation for manufacturers like HTC, Sony, and LG to make design changes and add support for newer components.

If the information is confirmed, it will be a significant move in changing direction process of the company. Last year, when Google sold Motorola to Lenovo, it’s predicted that tech giant seemingly got away with its phone hardware partners.
Now, the Nexus line is the closest items to Google’s own phones. Though these devices running Google’s Android software, the actual hardware is still produced by other manufacturers – the third parties, in the case of the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P are LG and Huawei.
It is not the first time rumors have risen. Back when Motorola still belonged to Google, rumors about its phone rolled out almost every month though it’s been Google’s strategy of flexing its hardware muscles to keep Samsung on a leash.
Google has still not replied on the rumors. Nevertheless, it seems that an incoming phone might be a possibility. Taking a look back, Android walked a long path and gained achievements much more than it did in 2011, when the first reports of a Google phone were rolled out . Should Google’s smartphone be launched, it will definitely receive supports from large fan base of Android operating system. Apart from the fact that the number of Nexus phones on sale isn’t particularly high, a devoted group of Pure Android fans will still buy them.
Moreover, building your own mobile platform is considered the hardest part. However, Google doesn’t have to think about it. With the giant – Android, all it needs to do is tackle hardware.
When Google makes its own phone, partner manufacturers still continue making Android phones as usual as PC makers kept producing their own tablets and laptops after Microsoft go down into hardware -routine. Of course, Google will have to be careful to manage its relationships with existing Android manufacturers such as Samsung because it may face backlash from its partners much like Microsoft did when Surface first released.
After all, it could be a smart strategy for Google, as it could mean that hardware and software teams could work more smoothly together and fulfill its desire of devices that not only make better use of the hardware, but also provide an Android experience that’s exactly how Google intends it to be.
